Future-Ready EV Charging Infrastructure for Multi-Tenancy Carpark (21 Units) - Heart of Willoughby
Project Overview
Future Charging Solutions was brought in to design and set up an electric vehicle (EV) charging system for the Heart of Willoughby apartment complex at 26 Crabbes Avenue. The project involved putting in the necessary wiring and equipment across several basement levels to support 21 specific parking spots. The system ensures that individual residents can be billed directly through their respective meter integration, providing a scalable solution for long-term multi-tenancy requirements.
Key Features
Smart Power Management: We installed a system that watches how much electricity the whole building is using in real-time. It automatically balances the power going to the car chargers so the building’s main power supply never gets overloaded.
High-Speed Internet for Chargers: We set up 21 internet connection points and commercial-grade network switches across different sections of the building (Buildings A, E, and F). This allows the chargers to communicate and handle payments smoothly.
Dedicated Electrical Panels: We installed 13 separate electrical boards specifically for EV charging throughout the site. Each one has its own safety switches to protect the individual chargers and the people using them.
Easy Payment Setup: We handled the entire setup for the payment system, which allows the owners to receive the money from charging fees directly into their account with no extra hassle.
Challenges and Solutions
Challenge 1: Fixing Incomplete Work
Some of the basic wiring was started but not finished, and some buildings didn't have the right paths for power or internet cables yet.
Solution: Created a clear, color-coded map to show the builder exactly what was finished and what still needed to be done, ensuring nothing was missed before the final startup.
Challenge 2: Long Distances Between Areas
The parking garage is very large, which meant we had to run long stretches of heavy-duty cabling from the main power rooms to the different charging areas in Buildings A, B, C, E, and F.
Solution: Use extra-thick, high-quality cables to make sure the power stays strong and steady even at the furthest parking spots, meeting all safety and performance standards.
Challenge 3: Managing Multiple Bills
The building owners needed a way to keep track of and collect money from 21 different chargers without it becoming a paperwork nightmare.
Solution: Set up a professional merchant account and handled all the technical "ID" checks and price settings, so the charging revenue flows automatically to the right place.
Challenge 4: Missing Pathways for Internet Cables
Some buildings were missing the protective pipes needed to run the internet cables required for "smart" charging.
Solution: We updated our plan to include installing these extra pipes and high-speed data cables, making sure every single charger stays connected to the network.
Project Outcome

The final setup provides 21 residents with their own reliable charging spots, a secure way to pay for only the power they use, and a system that is built to last as technology changes.
