Public EV Charging Infrastructure with Integrated Tap-and-Pay Payment System – Heart of Willoughby
Project Overview
Future Charging Solutions was engaged to deliver a public EV charging solution for the Heart of Willoughby mixed-use development. Developed by Hyecorp Property Group in partnership with Club Willoughby and built by Hyecorp, the project transformed the former Club Willoughby site into a 15,000 m² mixed-use community precinct featuring a three-level Club Willoughby, retirement living apartments, a 47-bed aged care facility, retail and medical spaces, 2,000 m² of landscaped gardens, and a 406-space underground car park.
The project involved the supply, installation, commissioning, and network integration of five public EV charging ports across two basement levels, providing convenient charging for visitors and patrons of the on-site medical centre. Future Charging Solutions selected Nayax EV chargers with integrated Tap-and-Pay technology, delivering a reliable, user-friendly charging experience that allows drivers to pay easily using their credit or debit card without the need for an app or membership.

Challenges and Solutions
Challenge 1: Integrating with Existing Site Infrastructure.
Solution: Existing electrical drawings were reviewed and matched with the installed infrastructure to confirm the site configuration before works commenced.
Challenge 2: Relocating Isolators for Accessibility.
Solution: Aluminium mounting posts were installed to relocate the isolators to a compliant, safe, and easily accessible operating height.
Challenge 3: Resolving EV Distribution Board Issues.
Solution: During commissioning, the main switch on the EV distribution board (EV-DB) intermittently tripped. Future Charging Solutions worked closely with the original electrical contractor to investigate the fault, resolve the issue, successfully complete commissioning, and bring the EV charging system online reliably.
Project Outcome
Future Charging Solutions successfully delivered an easy-to-use public EV charging solution for the Heart of Willoughby development. The completed installation provides reliable and convenient EV charging for residents, visitors, and patrons of the on-site medical centre.
